LP version. Don't Be Stupid is the 1980 debut of the Japanese keyboardist Himiko Kikuchi, a fusion album first issued on Continental. Ernie Watts joins her as guest soloist on tenor, alto and soprano saxophones.
Kikuchi plays acoustic piano, Fender Rhodes, Minimoog, Oberheim, Solina and clavinet, and also sings. Masatsugu Matsumoto is on electric and acoustic guitar and Kazuya Sugimoto on electric bass, with Kanya Kazama and Kazuaki Misago sharing the drums. Horns, the Tomato Group strings and a small chorus fill out the arrangements, and Genji Sawai produced the session while also playing alto. The eight tracks run from Stormy Spring to Mambo Is Magic. Light in the Attic singles out how closely Watts and Kikuchi play off each other across the record.
