Klaus Morlock returns with Fireside Spells, an album blending eerie folk, vintage synth, and psychedelic soundscapes into a world of supernatural encounters, Cold War conspiracies, and time slipping away. Inspired by 70s horror soundtracks, lost transmissions, and forgotten folklore

The title track evokes woodland rituals and ancient myths, while Henderson Makes Time shifts into 60s psychedelia, following a protagonist caught in a web of espionage and dark magic. The spectral synth work of A Gathering Before Dawn channels the eerie sensation of intercepted radio signals, hinting at voices lost to time.

“Back in the summer of 2022, I spent many joyful evenings at the house of David Douglas, drinking wine, chatting nineteen to the dozen, and listening to albums until the wee small hours. I'd often get home between three and four AM and start playing my single manual Hammond organ. On a couple of occasions, I recorded what I played, and ended up with about 40 minutes of organ music. My plan was to fashion an entire album's worth of solo organ, all of which was improvised in the dead of night.

Fireside Spells incorporates archival radio recordings provided by his colleague M. Bernard “One night, around 2AM, the tape delay threw out a sudden, HIDEOUS screech and went into crazy self-oscillation with nothing apparently triggering it. I assumed it was one of the distant voices recorded by M. Bernard being made flesh by the flapping tape of a Watkins Copycat on its last legs, and I must confess, I tasted fear.”
