*2024 stock* "The music of The Moon can surge like molten lava or flow like a quiet stream. It's a purist form of improvisation -- noise-attuned but rooted in jazz fundamentals, abstract but built on the unusually sturdy bond between guitarist Adam Caine and drummer Federico Ughi. These two play free, while operating like an old-school working band." - Hank Shteamer

The Moon was conceived in an instant. Drummer Federico Ughi happened to run into the guitarist Adam Caine just before setting out on a solo tour and spontaneously invited him along. From the beginning, they played a wide array of venues, from arts centers in Grand Rapids to sports bars in Ohio and everything in between. The Moon has toured nationally 4 times since forming in 2011. On this new album, all those miles travelled in service to the music come through in the sound. The titles in the new album are inspired by the band's experiences touring. During hours spent in the car, they imagine a final showdown between good and evil, casting friends, enemies, fellow musicians and acquaintances from the road in all the roles.

The Moon cultivates a uniquely personal mixture of the improvisational fearlessness of jazz, the bombastic energy of rock, and the sonic exploration of 20th century classical and electronic music. Something that was important to Adam and Federico when putting this album together - is that it has a strong large-scale formal structure from beginning to end. It's a complete listening experience, an improvised symphony.
