Atsushi Tsuyama is one of the central guitarists of the Japanese underground: a member of Omoide Hatoba, the punishing unit he ran with Seiichi Yamamoto, and of Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO from the very beginning, with whom he played the major rock festivals and reached the cover of The Wire, before leaving the group at the height of its reach. More recently he has worked with the samurai rock band Psyche Bugyo and in a traditional duo with Tomomi Nagano of Kyoto.
Guitar Solos North of Latitude 30 is an acoustic guitar solo album, and the most exposed portrait of Tsuyama as a player: no band, no effects, the instrument alone.
The sleeve, printed on a silver sheet, shows Tsuyama in the mountains. For fifty years he has also worked as a mountain keeper in Nagano prefecture, running a hut, taking part in rescues, and looking after the peaks of the Ina valley.
Vinyl only, pressed in an edition of 200 copies. Released by Enban.
