The Kriego is the joint project of musicians and sound artists Fernando Feria & Emiliano Cruz. Born from cultivating similar creative interests in sound art, improvisation, and composition, the duo weaves a sound born of noise, ambient, and free improvisation; exploring various formats and using the electric guitar as their main mean of expression. The project emerged in October 2021 in Mexico City with the presentation of their album I at Casa Patricio, later performing at the first edition of the Sound + Festival at the premises of the Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli museum. In 2022, they created their first acousmatic installation II: abrir lo mirado, which was exhibited at the Rogue Car Art Gallery (NYC.e) curated by Danny Polonsky. They have collaborated with artists from various disciplines such as directors Clemente Castor and Kim
Torres for the realization of the videodance Cage II (2021), as well as with dancer and choreographer Timoor Afshar for the musicalization of Zeitorgan, a choreography premiered at the Stuttgart Ballet (2022).
In November 2022, they collaborated with the avant-rock group La Cal in the work “Movimiento Para 36 Cuerdas” presented at Casa Versalles. In May 2023, they worked with Sofía “Lola” Ramírez and the Movimiento Phi Collective for an interdisciplinary performance called "La Velada del Sapo" presented in GDL. This new album “III” is a collaboration with Mabe Fratti and Concepción Huerta. In December 2022, we gathered with Mabe Fratti at Piayet Studios to record an improvisation session, which we later invited Concepción Huerta to intervene and add layers to. With that material, this project was created. The title comes from the eponymous book by Henri Michaux. (Paix dans les brisements), written in 1959.
