Tip! 'Imago Mutatis & Other Tales’ brings together two different works developed by Italian-born, Brussels-based producer Reptilian Expo, between 2022 and 2023.
The A-Side, Imago Mutatis, is a soundtrack composed for the live show ‘Imago Mutatis’, a performance stirring together music, dance, costumes and scenography; a fantastic tale about spiritual transformation, magical objects and enchanted places. This original soundtrack, divided into four acts, recounts the vicissitudes of Seiti’s search for the cosmic egg. Deceived by the witch Voiviy, Seiti must set out and face different creatures and difficulties in order to find what she seeks. Here, music sketches out the contours of a psychedelic quest, echoing the path and landscapes travelled by the characters. The B-Side puts together some tracks played mainly live from 2022 to 2024. The first one - ‘Sirena’, describes an encounter with fascinating volcanic water creatures. Then follows ‘passeggiare verrà’, a fast-paced but soft and elusive song that hosts Kaili’s vocals; the remaining tracks are resolutely weird-club oriented tracks designed to bewitch the dancefloor.
This third installment of the ‘vai a casa, sei ubriaco!’ series navigates through a wide sea of moods, from psychedelic ambient to glitchy noise, passing by intriguing synths and the signature leftfield bass of Reptilian Expo and his Pampsychia label, made of unbridled rhythms and unidentified bouncy sounds. For the first time, ‘vai a casa, sei ubriaco!’ comes up with dance-related materials, unveiling a wider spectrum of sunitty, to be further explored in the dedicated mini-zine.
“In an indefinite time dissolved in the present, Anthropos, or being of light, is diffused and dispersed in matter. Seiti, a warrior of Anthropos, was charged with finding the Cosmic Egg, an ancestral object that holds the power to gather all fragments into one, thus freeing the deity from its condition”. This performance has been written, staged and performed by Reptilian Expo (aka Riccardo Patrone) in collaboration with, in alphabetical order: Claudia Catanzaro, Carlotta Menozzi, Laurie Rinaldi, Livia Bertacca, Nemo, Sara Bè, Siet Phorae and Tómas Reverendo.
