Two Quebec composers on one record of the Radio Canada International transcription series. Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux, who had studied in Paris with the GRM, wrote Ishuma in 1974, here sung by soprano Marthe Forget. It lasts about fifteen minutes.
Serge Garant, artistic director of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, conducts its ensemble in both works, including his own Chant d'amours (1975), which takes the whole second side, a long piece for three singers, Pauline Vaillancourt, Jocelyne Coutu and Roland Richard, with cello solos by Jean-Luc Morin. Recorded in October 1976 and never reissued.
