1985 Italian re-issue on Debut / Black Saint's "Mythic Cound" series in an edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies of the 1955 album featuring Charles Mingus and John Laporta.

condition (record/cover): NM / NM

Edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies.

Part of the Jazz Workshop series that Charles Mingus and Max Roach ran through their own Debut label in the mid-fifties, and a genuinely obscure corner of it. Ada Moore was a singer with a small discography and a sound rooted in the blues rather than in the cabaret tradition most fifties jazz vocalists were working from. The Workshop framing is the point: Debut existed so that musicians could record what they wanted with whoever they wanted, and the series documented a New York scene that the major labels were largely ignoring.

Debut pressing. Deep catalogue from the most important musician-owned label of the decade.
