*50 copies limited edition* Mtua is the moniker of Matthieu Reynaud, a composer and sound artist based in Lyon. He is an enthusiast of long, contemplative forms, he works on the physicality of sound matter, carving out its contours and striving to breathe his own narrative into it. As a member of the SILO and Groovedge collectives, MTUA's musical practice focuses on the ability of oscillations to sculpt atmospheres. His sound installations draw on surrounding acoustic phenomena to transcribe their echoes. For La Timidité des Cîmes, MTUA was inspired by a botanical peculiarity: the ability of certain trees to maintain a distance between their branches within the same species. From a scientific point of view, this ability bears witness to the establishment of a social organisation in the plant world. This mutualism, which can be found in the publications of Suzanne Simard, Francis Hallé and Stefano Mancuso, reveals a form of environmental awareness. When the upper branches of trees do not touch each of them, they allow light to filter through to the rest of the living organisms below the canopy.

More poetically, this crown shyness is reflected in the music in the form of powerful drones that gradually gain in volume. In Save the bees... MTUA installs a rhythmic marker, a percussive metal rod that structures the movement of the piece and gathers the drones around it. The listener will be able to see correspondences between static elements (trunk/roots) and animated ramifications (moving branches/boiling ecosystem).

The magnetism generated by the Lyon-based artist's electronic sounds embraces a wide range of frequencies. These frequencies communicate with each other through flourishing harmonics. They remind us of all the physical and chemical exchanges that seem invisible to us but that structure our world. La Timidité des cîmes can be heard as the secret link between the meditative stasis of ssabæ, the poetical drones of Eliane Radigue and the abrasiveness of Yellow Swans.
