"Live in Aston 1977" is a completely new lens through which we can see a unique band with a seemingly inexhaustible energy for live performance. It comes at a difficult time for Can; their recently released eighth studio album, 'Saw Delight', was was poorly received and although posterity has been kinder, the reviews at the time of release have been savage. One might expect the live performances of this period to reflect some of the criticism levelled at the album, that they were slowing down, perhaps even a little tired, but this record instead cements the idea that Can live, in any period, were invincible.
