Re-issue of the epochal second BAM EP of musique concrète from 1959, featuring Pierre Schaeffer, Luc Ferrari and Iannis Xenakis.

condition (record/cover): VG+ / VG+  BAM's 7" EP Musique Concrète N° 2 offers a different scale of encounter: not the monumental box but the modest single, musique concrète as sampler, as calling card. The format implies portability, accessibility, perhaps even an attempt to reach listeners beyond the specialist audience. Seven inches of revolutionary sound, playable on any turntable.

These compilation EPs served pedagogical purposes. They introduced ears trained on melody and harmony to sounds organized by entirely different principles. Whether they succeeded in converting listeners or simply bewildered them remains an open question. But the attempt matters: someone at BAM believed this music could travel, could find homes in ordinary living rooms alongside Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens.
