New tape from Michael Mørkholt, made during his winter residency at Polychrome. "Naturspil, Automatmusik, Syngeskål". The pieces are performed on an acoustic singing bowl and a self-invented digital system, an electroacoustic composition principle for triads and rhythm in pure atmosphere. The principle is that the tonal relationships are mirrored in the rhythmic. A computer program with an amplitude-controlled trigger records a sound clip each time the singing bowl is struck. The sound clip is distributed to three players, which play at variable speeds. This plays a triad in a three-part polyrhythmic pattern. The tonal frequencies dictate the rhythmic ones. The rhythmic chime is generated by the internal relationship of the triad. The system works in pure tuning, because the conditions here are pure subdivisions. The pure sound source defines the fundamental and is played 1:1, fifth 3:2, octave 2:1, etc.

Three triangle tone generators divide the singing bowl's tone material. Their tonal shifts are triggered by the playback of the singing bowl according to a probability algorithm. The play of the tone generators informs a three-part pitch modulator which processes the singing bowl in a parallel playback and assigns a harmonic semi-acoustic triad. At the end of the circuit is an echo system with variable subdivisions and feedback loops. All levels and internal distribution of sound are controlled by three low-frequency oscillators whose tempo is divisions of the singing bowl playback time. The system is based on the idea that the musical material has its own logic. The system facilitates natural music.
