condition (record/cover): NM/EX . Goffredo Petrassi (1904-2003), towering figure of Italian 20th-century composition and teacher of Franco Donatoni, Aldo Clementi e Cornelius Cardew, and Morricone, presents four exquisite works for guitar and chamber ensemble composed between 1959 and 1977. Suoni Notturni (1959), dedicated to painter Afro Basaldella, evokes phantasmagorical nocturnal atmospheres inspired by Basaldella's painting Notturno. Seconda Serenata-Trio (1962) blends guitar with harp and mandolin in a unique timbral exploration. Nunc (1971), dedicated to Petrassi's partner Rosetta Acerbi, introduces percussive guitar techniques. Alias (1977) pairs guitar with harpsichord in experimental, sonoristic dialogue.
