Two works from the early 1980s by Iancu Dumitrescu, the Romanian composer whose music grows out of the inner life of single sounds, scraped, bowed and amplified until the harmonics take over. Ursa Mare (1982), for tape and orchestra, is conducted by the composer with his Hyperion Ensemble.
Aulodie Mioritica (1984), named after the Romanian ballad Miorița, is for double bass and orchestra, with Fernando Grillo as soloist and Yves Prin conducting. This is the 1987 Edition RZ reissue, pressed in Romania, of the 1985 Electrecord LP. Some copies were pressed with the sides switched and carry a sticker saying so.
