After performing at a concert in Oakland, 2010 and feeling proud of their musical output, Tom Carter (Charlambides) and Pete Swanson (Yellow Swans) decided to collaborate with one another again as a guitar duo. The resulting record amalgamates Tom's recent self-oscillating, power starved shredding psychedelia, with Pete's self proclaimed "more neanderthal attempts at VU/Roy Montgomery inspired simple melodicism". Ultimately, the album is an unusual haze of oscillator sweeps, dying batteries, ripping solos and clean(ish) two chord backbones forming a very unique angle on the possibilities that the "psychedelic rock" format could aspire towards.
Tom Carter was recently on a tour with Charlambides where he developed a very serious case of Pneumonia. He has just made it back to USA after falling ill in May and is on the slow road to recovery. He unfortunately has medical bills, no job to come home to and will now require ongoing treatment in the US. His prognosis was fortunately, very positive health-wise, but he will need financial support throughout what remains of his recovery.
Pete Swanson says "MIE Music and I have agreed to donate all profits from this new album to The Robert Thomas Carter Irrevocable Trust, as well as release a very limited version of the album with hand-done covers by Ilyas Ahmed that will also include an exclusive cassette of music from S Sarin Smoke. This set will be priced at a premium with the intention of encouraging people with more resources to consider supporting Tom.
