Next Mix
ErikM & dj sniff - Next Mix23.5.2023 / Next Festival Records. For this release, Next Festival Records dives deep into its archive to unveil a collaboration from Next Festival 2009 – one of the highlights of that year's festival – a tape by French musician, composer, visual artist and improviser ErikM & Japanese musician, curator, instrument designer and producer dj sniff. 13 years on, the sounds on 'Next Mix' still resonate, channelling the frenetic energy of free jazz, the looseness of plunderp…
Stéme
Restock 2023. Between his reputation as swift shifting improviser, concréte composer and turntable deconstructionist, Marseilles based artist ERIKM has earned himself an enviable position in the European music community. With Stéme, his most ambitious and fully realised compositional work to date, he devolves and recontextualises the boundaries between sound source and sound media. In essence, Stème originates from a selection of ten one minute long sound pieces burned on a CD which was deliberat…
Fata Morgana
"If you have the belief that your house plants are talking amongst themselves, you may not be crazy. French composer and electronics musician Erikm aka Eric Matt, with the help of the experimental chamber Ensemble Dedalus, transmutes sounds created beyond the frequencies of human hearing into a spectrum accessible to our limited range. This process reveals a world of creatures and natural phenomena that, unless you were working in a specific scientific discipline, may never suggest itself to you…
Echoplasme
Tip! A series of ghostly ink drawings and scanographs by eRikm, accompanied by a mixed sound piece, with sound texts freely inspired by fragments of stories about the universe of the Yokai, these ghosts and supernatural creatures that inhabit Japanese mythology, between hypnotizing soundscapes and bewitching instrumental devices. "Or bringing out the invisible, summoning ghosts. Having, to my knowledge, never encountered any ghost or other ectoplasm, the idea of representing some of them in grap…
Stodgy
eRikm first met Norbert Möslang in December 1998 at the festival More Scratch in Nantes when they first played together as part of ad-lib quartet gig which later became known as poire_z, a prominent electroacoustic improvisation quartet which existed until the split of Voice Crack in 2002. Norbert Möslang has been playing in Voice Crack duo with Andy Guhl since 1972, they’ve been working with “cracked everyday-electronics”, modifying and recontextualising the use of home electronics. After the s…

Albédo
In Autumn 2017, eRikm and Anthony Pateras embarked on an acoustic encounter, a direct dialogue through their machines. Each brought their own experiences and know-how together with a shared desire to explore sound landscapes in complete freedom. From this meeting, Albédo was born. Their material was developed sometimes in the studio, sometimes in concert. This dialogue, articulated within the unpolished depths of the sound’s structure, is captured in Albédo with one side recorded live in Ljublja…
Mistpouffers
Mistpouffers is a selection of three compositions completed between 2014-16, composed by French artist and improviser eRikm. Each piece runs approximately 17-18 minutes in length with two based on 8-channel fixed medium and one in stereo. “Draugalimur” (2014-15, 16). Draugalimur (Phantom Limb, in English) is a crossing from the intimate to vast open spaces, traversed by the elements in motion. Ice, air, gas and fire are in perpetual activity in the chaotic and primitive far off. It resembles the…
Drum-machines
Drum-Machines, the 2nd recording made and produced under the label Percussions de Strasbourg, marks an important turning point in our approach, that of the 4th generation of our ensemble. At the junction between contemporary and electronic music, Drum-Machines was created following a process of dynamic composition: the performers first proposed sound materials on two research residencies and then eRikm ensured the composition, the music production and mixing.Commissioned by Percussions de Strasb…

L'Art De La Fuite
L'art de la fuite is a selection of first recordings originally released on selftitled homemade tape in 1995 by eRikm. Mainly composed with turntables and prepared records (with various other sources), these recordings have laid the foundation for his future work as turntabilist / improviser / composer. 20 years later, this unique blend of musique concrète and post-industrial still sounds fresh today. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. 300 copies.
Ecotone
Both musicians have been active in the scene of improvised and experimental music for twenty years, both have been astounding their audiences with their intricately developed playing manners. Now they joined their forces on this album. eRikm, based in Marseille, started his musicial activities as a virtuoso turntablist in early 90s, gradually shifting his focus to more abstract music, sometimes abandoning turntables or substituting them with minidiscs or CD-turntables. His recent record ou…
beet5 / Nervures
Limited edition of 200 copies. beet5 takes Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto as its starting point. The slow movement was recorded using a special turntable for the blind that plays back records at quarter speed. I had an old recording of the piece lying around; I forget who the pianist was. The slowed down version was very striking, recognisable as Beethoven’s music but much sadder, more fragile. I developed a piece around this, using my usual array of synthesized sounds, field recordings, ‘borr…
Lux Payllettes
Turntablist and concrète composer eRikm is one of the more readily recognisable names contributing to the revelatory Entr'acte label, and his disc Lux Payllettes is a typically excellent work. Stretching out over a thirty-minute-plus duration, the Marseille-based composer cuts and layers a huge variety of sounds cultivated from the sonic idioms of Western cinema. A bracing and immersive collage of fractured soundtracks, dislocated foley work and strange re-combinations, Lux Payllettes comes high…
Visitation
** Edition limited to 350 copies. ** Visitation, created on April 1st, 2011 is a very unique kind of collaboration between two French sonic artists, master Luc Ferrari and eRikm. Here is eRikm's direct testimony about this work: "When the sun set on April 1st, 2011 I heard through the windows of my house the repetitive song of a night bird. Madeleine brought me immediately back to Luc Ferrari¹s electroacoustic piece Presque Rien N° 2. I became curious about comparing the bird that was officiatin…
Brackwater
Recorded by Laurent Perrier Sonorisation at the former state prison of Sion, May 4, 2003.
Chaos club
eRikm and dieb13 are two of the most prominent and well-respected experimental turntablists in the world, both working in a wide range of contexts, from the classical world to club DJing. Over the last two years, they have begun frequently working as a duo, and chaos club marks their first duo recording together. eRikm, from Marseille, burst onto the scene in the mid-'90s as a virtuoso turntablist. Since then, he has gradually shifted his output into a more abstract vein, often abandoning the tu…
Les protorythmiques
This recording is taken from a live concert which took place at the Musique Action Festival in France on Thursday the 26 of May 2005. Initially Luc Ferrari and erikm were invited to present "Les Protorythmiques" at Musique Action 2005, a work composed around a new 'open working process' in which sounds and compositional parts could be substituted and transformed in an almost improvisational setting, this however was not to pass due to Luc Ferrari's health, at which point Thomas Lehn was invited …
