Gerard Herman blubbered his way through a trench of clay-like melodies that cluttered down the sole of his run-down sandal and his worn-out shoe. Upon arriving he sneezed, and Entr’acte opened the door.
Transistor formed in 2009 when Franck Vigroux was performing in NYC where Ben Miller led several projects. Vigroux was in a creative transition suggesting a stripped down electro-industrial sound with the latter as lead singer. Miller had sung in many bands before but never solely as a lead singer. The new challenge was intriguing. Shows were set up with Vigroux’s sub-bass and extreme frequencies blowing more than one PA system. They struck up an overseas collaboration releasing a self-titled EP…
Kallabris is the project of Michael Anacker. Active since 1986, its work has been described as ‘electro-acoustic chamber music’ — a description which should be taken literally. Anacker’s main interest is a reflection on the electro-mechanical conditions of sound recording presented in everyday recording devices such as cheap home computers, dictaphones and answering machines. Thus, he is not interested in the limits of musical styles but in the limitations of sound (re)production.

For his maiden voyage through Space, Shan (Victor Shan, if it matters to you, and it should) offers Good To Me, a pair of revelatory dancefloor productions inspired by many a long night and early morning spent at the legendary Frankfurt institution Robert Johnson.
Jacques Bon motions through the day’s early energy of Dawning Light. True to the record’s title, Bon composed the four tracks for his debut EP on Beats In Space Records in the morning sun, reflecting and refracting the colors of daybreak from his compositions. Burning spheres aside, Bon draws inspiration from his past in Paris, where he slung records at Daphonics and started the record store Smallville with Pantha Du Prince, and his time in Hamburg, where he frequently helms the legendary decks …

**few copies back in stock** At bleedin’ last, Cosey Fanni Tutti’s legendary solo album, Time To Tell [1983] sees a proper, if edited, official vinyl reissue - Magaine Included! - on her and Chris Carter’s Conspiracy International label. In fact, with Cosey’s utterly mind-blowing autobiography, Art Sex Music now in circulation, putting history to rights and stoking febrile interest around her inspirational, nonpareil oeuvre, the timing could hardly be any better to reissue her most sought-after …
Rod Modell (DeepChord) returns to Astral Industries’ elevated planes, this time with Chris Troy on a 20 year follow-up to their first Waveform Transmission; V 1.0-1.9 for Silent. With the 72 minute V 2.0-2.9, they present a supremely serene addition to their nebulous catalogue, paradoxically plumbing reverberant, expansive space to beautifully introspective effect. Modell’s signature dub techniques are in effect, but only as part of a greater system of ambient processing, with having bass reserv…
Most of Bogusław Schaeffer’s electroacustic works emerged in the Polish Radio Experimental Studio. Among the works produced there in the years 1966-1978 were 15 autonomous compositions, 6 illustrations for the film and 11 works for the theatre and outdoor spectacle. The “Travel Notes” album assembles 5 out of 10 works created by Schaeffer outside Warsaw (in Berlin, Belgrae and Stockholm among others) in the exceptionally fertile eighth decade of the 20th century.
"In 1980 I decided to write a cycle of 6 vocal pieces dealing with many different aspects of what it means to be ‘human’, and using the voice as the focus for this exploration. The new piece ‘VOX’, would begin with the sounds of the creation as suggested in various creation myths from around the world (VOX 1), and lead eventually to the disintegration of human society (VOX 4). In between these two poles, VOX2 would deal with contemplation of the natural world, and VOX3 with the excitement of int…
Compiling the first 3 albums in the 'Everywhere At The End Of Time' series - two and a half hours long, each album reveals new points of progression, loss and disintegration, progressively falling further and further towards the abyss of complete memory loss and nothingness...Embarking on the Caretaker’s final journey with the familiar vernacular of abraded shellac 78s and their ghostly waltzes to emulate the entropic effect of a mind becoming detached from everyone else’s sense of realit…
Ivan Pavlov pays tribute to the late Sentrax founder and prolific musician John Everall, who passed away in September 2014. Sourced from analog material, the six tracks are an exercise in minimalism and subtlety singular even in Pavlov's impressive back catalog. Pavlov focuses on swirling arpeggios whose colorfulness is mirrored in Ruth Stofer's artwork. From the joyful, handclap-driven "2016", to the hectic gabber derivate "Overbeat", the Russian producer explores a minimalistic yet organ…
"Because we are heathens, we first heard about J-B Favory when we reissued Los Lichis' incredible 2LP set, Dog (FTR 229LP, 2016). Favory was the one non-Mexican member of the ensemble, traveling once a year (or so) to collude with the insane artists of Los Lichis. Had we been less dim, we would have known Favory was an avant composer of note, having served as an assistant to Luc Ferrari and Gavin Bryars, before setting off on his own musique concrete path. He is also the co-host of the long…
"In the third volume of the Same Animal, Different Cages series, American composer David First does a 180 from the purely sound-for-sound's sake explorations of the first two volumes and gives eleven emotional outpourings performed exclusively on solo harmonica. Despite this minimalist single-instrument approach, First makes each of these songs sound fully realized; anything more would simply be crowding the sonic space. First has produced perhaps one of the first folk-music responses to …
The ongoing relationship between Editions Mego and CoH continues with this special collection of works made by CoH over a number of years, released on a variety of labels. What brings these works together is the incorporation of vocalists and lyrics. Neatly compiled here, a diverse pool of vocalists elevate the otherwise instrumental works of CoH (Ivan Pavlov) into worlds of narrative, the human and the haunted. Little Annie brings her sly subversive cabaret style to one of the works whilst…
