Giuliano Sorgini - Un Urlo Dalle Tenebre
Giuliano Sorgini (among his most famous soundtracks are "The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue," "Zoo folle," "Gli animali … che simpatia") has composed a very macabre, avant-garde, and perfect score to describe the struggle between good and evil. The composer has created sonic dimensions with infernal tones, abstract bands, scary effects (Tr. 1, Tr. 5, Tr. 6), which also feature the recognizable voice of Edda Dell'Orso, organ music to describe the figure of the exorcist priest (Tr. 2), and Gregorian-flavored pieces (Tr. 4). These suspenseful pieces are alternated with others of Pop (Tr. 3) and Country (Tr. 7) music that break this atmosphere of demonic terror. At the time, RCA assembled a master tape for a promotional LP, intended for the library circuit, with eleven tracks (32:32). Using the master tapes from the original recording session (including the LP), we were able to discover additional unreleased material, such as alternate versions of those included on the album, which allowed us to create this CD for the delight of horror film fans.
Marcello Giombini - L’ossessa
Marcello Giombini (July 8, 1928 Rome- December 12, 2003 Assisi) experimented with symphonic music, electronic music and also religious music with a rock beat during his career. For cinema he wrote numerous OSTs including the well-known ones from the Sabata Trilogy of Spaghetti Westerns, for the cult horror film "Antropophagus" and "Seli" and the main score for the Italo-German science fiction film "Mission Stardust” (aka “...4..3..2..1... morte!”). For our CD (65:25 minutes) we were able to use the mono master tapes (with the exception of two tracks in stereo) from the original recording session. The composer wrote an experimental electronic OST with very gloomy and dramatic passages as well as female voices for the satanic litanies and demonic sabbaths. The evil atmosphere is broken up by enjoyable pieces such as a samba and the recurring " Tema dell’ossessa", an extremely lyrical and sad motif. This is a CD to pay tribute to the musical art of Maestro Marcello Giombini.
Franco Piersanti – Il Nido Del Ragno/Una Prova D'innocenza
Digitmovies releases, for the very first time in complete edition on CD, two Franco Piersanti’s OSTs, one for the horror movie “Spider Labyrinth” (aka “Il nido del ragno”), with Sergio Stivaletti’s special effects, and one for the psychological thriller for TV “Una prova d’innocenza”. A selection of six tracks from “Spider Labyrinth” appeared for the first time, on CD “Porte aperte”, from the homonymous movie of director Gianni Amelio. Compared to the original stereo masters, there are nine more unpublished tracks. The author composed and directed a symphonic score which alternates dissonant and calm, suspended music. For the very first time, we are publishing the musics composed and directed by Franco Piersanti, from TV movie “Una prova d’innocenza”. Here we can find dramatic music and pastorals accompanied by the pipe organ, which describes the priest figure. This CD, of a total running time of 75:28 minutes, intends to be a sincere homage to Franco Piersanti’s Art.
Carlo Maria Cordio - Misteria (Body Puzzle)
In re leasing this CD with a long duration of about 70 minutes which will make happy the Horror/Thriller/Noir fans, we could use all the full stereo master tapes vaulted at RCA. Carlo Maria Cordio is without any doubt a specialist of the genre and his list of OSTs includes movies like "Absurd-Rosso sangue", "Killing Bird-uccelli assassini", "Aenigma", "Sodom's Ghost", "La casa 4", "Paura nel buio", "Streghe". For this movie Cordio has written an orchestral - electronic score with a very American sound concerning the instrumentation of the dissonant strings and of the brass clusters. The romantic side of the story is represented by the love theme for Tracy and Michele introduced in the version for piano and orchestra (Tr.8), for sax and orchestra (Tr.15) and then reprised in "Finale" (Tr.26). The terrible murders are scored with a large number of mysterious, suspenseful and often gloomy motifs where the cleverness and creativity of Cordio give interesting results.
