Fabio Selvafiorita is a composer known to the public of experimental music for his massive musique-concrete work Death by Water composed with Valerio Tricoli. This CD is neither musique concrete or “extreme” experimental music: it's a CD of music for solo classical guitar. Consistent to the baroque guitar literature and its short musical forms, Fleurs d'X consists of musics written for a bard of an imaginary future kingdom's court. This is the best way to imagine this astonishing collection of micro compositions for solo guitar. With the title Fleurs d'X Fabio Selvafiorita collected a series of pieces composed during the summers from 2007 to 2012. This corpus of musical scraps, registers sudden deja vus, returns echoes of the composer's musical memory, always in balance between enchant and dream, fracture and distance. Elena Càsoli, the interpreter in this CD and a leading intepreter of contemporary music for guitar, wrote about this work: "Listening to them it’s like going on travel in an always changing dimension…you will enter into an other world. And there, you will be able to go through the surprise, the melancholy, the uncertainty, the joke, the slap." Musical aphorisms for a melancholic guitar in the wake of Kurtag's Jatekok and Gubaidulina's Musical Toys.
