Michael Vorfeld

'Michael Vorfeld-percussion & stringed instruments. Recorded on May 25 & 26, 2007 by Berserker at Nurnichtnur Studios, Kelve, Germany. Edited by Michael Vorfeld and Michael Walz. Mastered by Michael Walz. Images by Michael Vorfeld. With his most recent solo CD, Michael Vorfeld presents an extreme and unique world of percussive sounds. His set-up consists of various percussion instruments and self-designed string instruments. His uncommon playing methods and further instrumental preparations complete the sound, leading to a multi-layered and dense sonic world. The seven pieces on this CD are all characterized by an unconventional, strictly manual and purely acoustic sound production. An intense, almost intimate relationship emerges between the musician and the instrument, as movements, gestures and actions are directly transformed into sound. At the same time, the music itself appears to arise separate from the instruments and musician, generating a distinctive atmospheric character.' label info
