This time we are presenting another great collaborator that has been a part of our community for many years. Marina Džukljev, pianist from Novi Sad, Serbia. She joined the trio TiTiTi a few years ago as a guest, on their debut record Štafelaj out on Zavod Sploh, and then later she performed with them on many occasions including the Jazz Festival in Cerkno, Ring Ring Festival etc. TiTiTi started as a trio of the Slovenian most prominent brotherly connection, a fiery free rhythm section – Vid and Jošt Drašler with a young saxophone player Jure Boršič, who is also an integral part of the free music scene. All three are Zlatko Kaučič`s scholars and are part of the groups organizing a series of concerts, workshops, based in Ljubljana, Vrhinka, Nova Gorica and Bistrica ob Sotli.

Marina Džukljev is a pianist, educator and active performer in the fields of free improvisation, classical, contemporary and applied music.
She collaborates with a wide range of musicians and multimedia artists from Europe, USA, Canada, Japan. As a member of many ensembles, as well as a solo artist, she has released over 20 releases for internationally acclaimed labels and has played at the prominent Festivals and concert series around Europe.
"As an improviser she’s remarkably versatile, working with a wide array of collaborators from across the stylistic spectrum. She moves easily between approaches, enfolding ideas from jazz, contemporary, and experimental music in her playing, with a commitment to exploring sound for its own sake within an ensemble-oriented sensibility." - Peter Margasak

On Izba, Marina Džukljev became a vital part in co-writing the compositions and becoming a full member of the group. This kind of music coming from Europe has found its place over the years, but we constantly ask ourselves do we still have something to say? Does it stand for anything? We know that we do, hopefully we manage to get the message out there through recorded music.
