On one LP, Predetermination: The Contemporary Jazz Quartet caught in 1964 alongside Sunny Murray and Gary Peacock - the rhythm section of Albert Ayler's Spiritual Unity - on music that stayed hidden for sixty years. Free jazz before the norm was set, exploding out of Denmark years ahead of the rest of Scandinavia.

On the other, Beautiful United Harmony Happening / The Education of an Amphibian: John Tchicai at his most searching, bookending a whole era of Danish creative music - from the 1966 Octet, with trumpeter Hugh Steinmetz and reedman Sahib Shihab, to the ritual flute-and-chant expanse of Cadentia Nova Danica, where his old friend Don Cherry shines throughout.
