Two new archival LPs from Formalibera, Alga Marghen's free jazz imprint, both drawn from the same circle of Copenhagen musicians around 1970, gathered here as a pair.
On one LP, More Peace: Tordenskjolds Soldater (Jesper Nehammer on tenor saxophone, Ole Matthiessen on piano, Henrik Hove on bass, Jon Finsen on drums) live at Jazzhus Montmartre in late April 1970, shortly before they recorded Peace for Spectator Records. The four Matthiessen compositions of that album stretch out here at far greater length, from the original tapes restored and remastered by Matthiessen himself. It is the group's second LP on Formalibera, and their last.
On the other, previously unreleased recordings by tenor saxophonist Carsten Meinert, who made only two albums under his own name in his lifetime: the Danish Radio Jazz Group on side A, his C.M. MusicTrain on side B, Coltrane-rooted fire with Ole Matthiessen and the guitar of Pierre Dørge. Liner notes by Mats Gustafsson.
Hove and Matthiessen played in both Meinert's quartet and the MusicTrain, so the two records share more than a city. Take them together.
Edition of 300 copies. High thickness cardboard with opaque laminated cover. Comes with a printed insert.
