A new pressing of Hermann Nitsch's Klaviersonate. Nachtstück für Harmonium, first issued in Austria in 1984 by Yedermann Productions for Galerie Heike Curtze. Nitsch plays both pieces alone: the sonata on grand piano, performed at the gallery in Düsseldorf on May 7th 1984, and the night piece on harmonium, performed at the gallery in Vienna on June 27th 1984.
Nitsch (1938-2022) is known above all for the Orgien Mysterien Theater and his place among the Vienna Actionists, and the keyboard stayed with him beside that work: a later Klaviersonate für Arnulf Rainer came out on Welt Am Draht in 2001, and Komposition für Orgel on Yedermann in 1995. The 1984 production had Christine Jones of Yedermann in charge of artistic advice and production, Klaus-Peter Schrammel as technical adviser, and the mix done at Soundborn-Studio. This edition carries Nitsch's own drawing on the cover and is mastered by Jesper Bagger Hviid. It joins the Nitsch titles already on Tochnit Aleph, among them Traubenfleisch, Akustisches Abreaktionsspiel and Musik der 155. Aktion.
Piano and harmonium by Hermann Nitsch. Edition of 250 copies, November 2026. Tochnit Aleph (TA183) 2026.
