*In process of stocking. 2022 stock.* Completing a trilogy of dark ambient work, Korrelations is a summary of Beyond Sensory Experience’s sepulchral science, both a recollection of the arcane places explored on the previous works as well as a re-interpretation through the efforts of a number of remixers. There are more beats on Korrelations and not all of them are supplied by the remixers. Korrelations is one of those records which hangs in space after a fully realized body of work where the artist pauses, catches their breath, and then vanishes again, leaving behind a few hints of their new direction.
A collaboration between Drakon (MZ.412, Nordvargr/Drakh, L/A/B) and artist/scientist K. Meitzer, Beyond Sensory Experience explores the scientific possibilities of numbers converted to music, delving into the darkness of subterranean numeric theory and sending back muffled reports from the black depths. “Korrelations” and “Tortuna [Henrik Nordvargr Bjorkk remix]” whisper with dialogue, muttered and muted information that is passed subconsciously through the music to the listener. A woman’s voice wanders through “Ratan II,” hinting at some scientific revelation though the insight is obscured by her unknown language. The DoShaska! remix of “Urmula” is given impetus by the
addition of beats — tablas and a shuffling drum kit — to the swirling ambience while Beyond Sensory Experience themselves apply a rhythm section to “Yes Satan.” But it is the Alk0 remix of “28.9.11.9” that really leaves the closeted darkness behind as it snarls with wild guitar, bursting with an overdriven wall of sound that obliterates the damp darkness of the preceding ten tracks as if to reverse the diaphanous ambience of the trilogy into a cascade of brittle shards of sound.
A footnote to the sonic thought experiment of Tortura, Urmula and Ratan, Korrelations is not a collection of unrelated bits that didn’t have a home. It is a realized examination of “What happens next?” When an experiment is finished, the scientists must take what they’ve learned and apply it to the future.
The realized number theory of dark ambience as explored by their trilogy of records is leveraged by Beyond Sensory Experience into the future world of rhythm and noise. - Igloomag
