Soft Black Star

2005 release ** La mer, la bataille, la mort is Soft Black Star's latest album. Five songs united by a love of literature and cinema. Electroacoustic sounds and field recordings blend into cinematic homages (Aguirre). An early 20th-century vinyl record spins, crackling. Zeno Gabaglio dispenses love with his cello in Moishe & Buddy. Radio waves sinuously flirt with the Farfisa in my living room, with a half-full ashtray on top. The homage to Sokurov in Russian ark, with his inevitable improvisational "mistakes" of live recording. Zeno's electric cello rides the waves in La mer, la bataille, la mort, which pays homage to the sea literature that everyone loves. I, who don't play an instrument, listen to an arrhythmic beat that comes from within. The banjo that starts all over again and the buzz of the vinyl that remains imprinted in the mind and heart. The sound of the soul before the technique.
