Italian electronic music producer PSTMRD returns with Lanzarote, his highly anticipated second album arriving February 6. Drawing inspiration from the raw, volcanic landscapes of the Spanish island that gives the record its name, the album unfolds as an immersive sonic journey across seven tracks of detailed sound design and evocative electronic textures. First single "Fullmoon" bridges the rhythmic complexity and textural play of classic IDM with glitch-infused minimalism and warm analog atmospheres reminiscent of 1980s pioneers like Tangerine Dream—setting the tone for an album that showcases PSTMRD's ability to sculpt vivid, transportive soundscapes.
Crafted with an array of modular synthesizers and unique electronic instruments including the Ableton Push 3, Soma Terra, Make Noise Strega, and Waldorf Iridium, Lanzarote highlights PSTMRD's ongoing exploration of new technologies and sonic possibilities. From the volcanic intensity of "Volcano" to the vocal-featuring "Dune" (with Francesca Bisacchi) and the expansive 12-minute title piece, the album demonstrates both technical mastery and emotional depth. With mixing by Martino Marini and mastering by Joan Arnau Pàmies, who also provides additional production, Lanzarote solidifies PSTMRD's distinctive artistic identity—rooted in his 1990s hardcore and post-rock background while pushing forward into new electronic territories.
