*2026 stock* "I had in mind recording a monographic disc of Yair Klartag’s music many years ago. After a long period of artistic and practical anticipation, I am pleased to present the recording as the final result of our collective work. In my personal artistic universe, contemporary music represents a moment of aggregation of artists. I believe that this album is the concrete result of this desire and vision of mine: collective energies combined for a single artistic purpose. Not even a minute of this music would have been recorded without this collective passion, not only towards Klartag's compositions, but generally towards today's art and music.
My first encounter with Klartag's music took place in Basel in 2013, during a conference at the Hochschule für Musik. Yair was presenting the piece, Divergence de la série harmonique, for solo classical guitar during the International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini. Some years later, I had the opportunity to hear a live performance of his piece, Generally Pathetic, for piano and fixed media, given by Imri Talgam in Berlin at KM28—I was once again swept away by the energy of this music. Since that transformative evening, I had the idea of organizing a monographic concert featuring some of his works and recording them with people who had worked with him throughout the years.
The decision to collaborate with pianist Imri Talgam and neuverBand, a contemporary music ensemble based in Basel, came about naturally as the project progressed. Klartag had also studied in Basel and has a history of collaborating both with the ensemble and with Talgam. Recording contemporary music holds profound significance for me as it serves as a means to leave a lasting imprint of today's musical landscape for future generations. It ensures that the innovative voices and compositions of our time are preserved and accessible for years to come. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Anja Clift, who was a valuable advisor throughout the organization of our Basel concert in September of 2023 as well as the preliminary stages of the recording.
I would also like to thank a number of people without whom the project would not have worked out. To Mike Svoboda, who not only participated as a conductor but also provided practical and tangible contributions. To Imri Talgam, Richard Haynes, Maria Muñoz López, and Katarina Leskovar, who dedicated their time and passion to bringing this project to life. To Cyrill Lim, who patiently recorded this CD, and to Nadia Guth Biasini for her support.
To Joan Arnau Pàmies, who trusted in this project and gave us the possibility to publish it with Protomaterial Records. To the composer, Yair Klartag, for the music he composed and his unwavering dedication." - Ruben Mattia Santorsa
