Le Pont Suspendu is a four-part album by David Sani and Pierre Gerard, released by Ftarri in October 2025. Crafted from individual studio sessions in Siena and Liège, it unfolds as a restrained, minimalist exploration of sound, silence, and the liminal space between discrete gestures and environmental resonance.

*Edition of 200* Carefully pieced together between October and December 2021 in the distinct localities of Italy and Belgium, Le Pont Suspendu bridges physical and conceptual distance through quietly radical collaboration. The album occupies a space emblematic of both David Sani’s and Pierre Gerard’s recent trajectories: minimalism that foregrounds listening, patience, and the subtle agency of sonic detail. Each of the four parts opens expansively, inviting the listener into a world where absence and presence are in constant negotiation.

From the outset, the music avoids fixity. Sani and Gerard exchange sound fragments—sometimes barely-there drones, splinters of guitar, muted electronic flourishes, or vestiges of field recordings—without resolving them into a singular voice. Resonance and silence are deployed not as backdrop but as agents themselves, framing the overall structure as an exercise in timbral humility and inquiry. Their interplay privileges poetic allusion over narrative drive: what emerges is not linear development but a thick weave of textures, punctuated by intimate bursts and ritual-like pauses.

Pierre Gerard’s methodology, as revealed in prior duo recordings, relies on the slow accumulation and placement of semi-acoustic sound objects, voice, and electronics—not to make a statement, but to clear space for emergence. Sani complements this approach with an ear for micro-gesture, enabling the duo’s shared minimalism to take on weight and density, even as much of the sonic canvas remains unmarked. The two artists never rush, instead letting the listener dwell in anticipation and unresolved tension. Silence and low-level sound are integral, and environmental ambience is folded in with subtle tact. Each part maintains a rarefied poise, resisting musical climax and favoring reflective presence.
