American guitarist Barry Chabala (born in 1961) has released numerous recordings on improvised/experimental music labels such as Erstwhile Records, winds measure recordings, and Another Timbre. Noyes and Chabala have been working together since 2006, releasing several CDs. This album is the latest product of their collaboration.
"The Lightgiver" is made up of four parts. In the performance, Noyes and Chabala used a symbol from the I Ching and a quotation from the French writer Albert Camus as a sort of score. Noyes’ instruments were piano, inside-piano, feedback piano, InputLoop sampler, and percussion, while Chabala played piano, prepared piano, felt piano, acoustic and electric guitars, and objects.
