*200 copies limited edition* Jun-Y Ciao (born in 1978 in Shanghai) is a musician whose main instruments are sax and clarinet. Having studied in Dusseldorf and Mainz, Germany, in the second half of the 2000s, he is currently based in Shanghai and Dusseldorf. He has numerous releases on Zhu Wenbo's cassette label Zoomin' Night. Beijing-based Zhu Wenbo is known both for his own performance activities and for running Zoomin' Night, which plans events and releases cassettes. A musician with many connections to Ftarri, he appeared in the 2019 Ftarri Festival and has played several times in the performance space at Ftarri, Tokyo. In 2022, he released "were some sound days, one separately be placed" (ftarri-961), a duo CD with Zhao Cong, on the Ftarri label.
Zhu Wenbo has carried out the "Underpass Concert" series in Beijing since 2015. Held in an underpass amid intense reverberation and car noise, the performances use no electricity. In the 14th Underpass Concert, on September 22, 2024, a work composed by Jun-Y Ciao was performed as a clarinet duo by Jun-Y Ciao and Zhu Wenbo. This CD documents that performance in a single 59-minute track. Playing nearly-coinciding long, gentle clarinet tones sustained for about ten seconds, then leaving an interval of 10 to 30 seconds before playing another 10-second long tone, the two musicians make the clarinets resonate for a period of 59 minutes with a background of noise from moving cars.
