*200 copies limited edition* In February 2019, multi-instrumentalists Maurizio Abate and Luca Venitucci crossed musical paths as part of an artist residency at Standards in Milan. Over those few days, their respective instruments engaged in a dialogue, shaping sounds and structures within the space that housed them. While working on the post-production of the recorded material, Abate and Venitucci enlisted the valuable and decisive collaboration of fellow like-minded musicians Roberto Laneri and Paolo Botti, respectively on soprano sax, voice, and viola. Six years have passed now: in the meantime, Standards has concluded its experience, giving rise to new projects, yet the memory of those days remains, finally captured on a mind-blowing collaborative record.

Multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser active since the early 1990’s, co-founder of the electroacoustic improvisation group Ossatura, Luca Venitucci has over the years focused his research on the accordion seeking to elicit timbres and sonic textures beyond the instrument's conventional range and typical associations. The expressive and dynamic resources of the bellows, the multiplicity of registers, the interaction between accordion, voice, blown reeds and other small instruments become means to explore a kaleidoscope of changing soundscapes, in which echoes of traditional musical sounds from different latitudes are presented inextricably linked to sound materials of a more abstract and unconventional nature.

Self-taught guitarist with a particular fascination for all stringed instruments, since the early 2000’s Maurizio Abate has pushed his research and instinctive approach to experimentation towards a constant connection with the primordial intensity of sound, which has led him to explore different forms of expression that incorporate the material of blues, folk, electronics and psychedelia in a personal and unique way. Throughout the years, he has incorporated new elements into his live performances, including processed hurdy-gurdy, harmonica and electronics, through which he creates meditative, forlorn, ritual soundscapes.
