Japanese edition on Polydor of the 1968 album of Hawaiian-style easy-listening by Belgian studio band. Glamour cover.

Gatefold sleeve.

The Waikiki's were Belgian. Specifically, they were a studio group assembled in Brussels by the producer Al Van Dam, and their Hawaii Tattoo was a European and American hit in 1961, a steel-guitar instrumental with a marching drum that was closer to Bert Kaempfert than to Honolulu. This Polydor album has the follow-up material: Pearly Shells, more tattoos, the whole Hawaiian songbook as imagined from the North Sea coast.

Put it next to the Buckie Shirakata record and the Orhes Stenyt oddity and you have three continents manufacturing the same imaginary island. The Waikiki's version is the most efficient and the most shameless. Polydor pressing.
