Angharad Davies (violin) and duo Cremaster consisting of Alfredo Costa Monteiro (electro-acoustic devices, speakers, electric guitar) and Ferran Fages (feedback mixing board, electro-acoustic devices). Composed, recorded and assembled between september 2010 and july 2012 in Barcelona. Violin parts recorded by Kostis Kilymis on march 2012 in Oxford. Pluie fine is the result of several exchanges of recorded material shared between Cremaster and Angharad Davies, from 2010 to 2012. Each piece has been built up from multiple transformations passing slowly back and forth between the musicians evolving into a music that inhabits a common space and vision. Ferran Fages and Alfredo Costa Monteiro, the two artists behind Cremaster, have been active in this formation for more than ten years now and, under this guise, have been harvesting the potential of this music in loudness and abrasiveness, while taking the logical steps forward in the areas between acoustic, amplified and electro-magnetic phenomena. Working with an accomplished instrumentalist of the calibre of Angharad Davies, they find someone who has both the force and the analytical faculties in their playing to be able to work efficiently as a collaborator and not as a mere colourist. Angharad Davies is a violinist based in London. She is an active performer in contemporary, improvisation and experimental music both as a soloist and within ensembles. She has developed a specific approach to the violin, extending the sound possibilities of the instrument by attaching and applying objects to the strings or by sounding unexpected parts of the instrument's body. She is active in Cranc (with Rhodri Davies and Nikos Veliotis), and has performed and or recorded with Axel Dörner, Taku Unami and many others. Alfredo Costa Monteiro : After having studied sculpture installation with Christian Boltanski at Les Beaux-Arts in Paris, Alfredo Costa Monteiro moved to Barcelona in 1992 and became involved in improvised music, concentrating on electric guitar and accordion. His installations and sound pieces, all of a low-fi character, have in common an interest for unstable processes, raw materials and gestures, where the manipulation of objects as instruments or instruments as objects has a strong phenomenological aspect. Besides Cremaster, Alfredo Costa Monteiro runs several ongoing projects: i treni inerti (with Ruth Barberán), Atolón (with Ferran Fages and Ruth Barberán), and duos with Tim Olive or Pascal Battus. Ferran Fages : Improviser and composer, Ferran Fages plays guitar, amplifiers, radios, resonant objects, turntable and electronics: 'feedback mixing board', pick-ups and oscillators. He was member of the collective IBA collect d'improvisacio 1999 to 2006. Besides Cremaster, he is collaborating with various musicians, among them: Joan Saura, Christopher Williams, Martin Küchen, Will Guthrie, Jean-Philippe Gross and Pascal Battus.
