1971, a duo, and the strangest record either man ever put out on ECM. Keith Jarrett plays electric piano and organ here alongside acoustic, which he would spend the rest of his career denouncing, and Jack DeJohnette responds with drumming that is closer to colour than to time. Ruta And Daitya is barely composed at all: two musicians who had just come out of the Miles Davis electric bands feeling their way through a set of open pieces, with results that veer between gorgeous and genuinely peculiar. Both men later distanced themselves from it, which is usually a good sign.

Japanese ECM pressing. An outlier in both discographies, and worth hearing precisely for that.
