The very first Ayler on record, and the title is not lying. Stockholm, October 1962: Albert Ayler, in Scandinavia after his army years, playing standards with the Swedish rhythm team of Torbjörn Hultcrantz and Sune Spångberg - two players who deserve serious respect for hanging on and hanging in. Originally released in tiny numbers on Bird Notes, and one of the key documents of the new music's prehistory. You can hear the future arriving in real time: the huge tone, the melodic wildness, the total honesty. Historically crucial and musically fascinating - this is not just an archaeology piece, it plays beautifully. Japanese DIW edition, done with the care the Japanese always bring to this catalog.
