A Japanese pressing of John Cage's Sonatas And Interludes on Denon - the Tokyo-based label that produced some of the finest analogue and early digital classical recordings of the 1970s and 80s. Japan's sustained engagement with Cage's music across the postwar decades was among the most serious and consistent of any country outside the United States, and this pressing documents that relationship: the work treated not as exotic import but as repertoire, given the same quality of production that Denon extended to Bach and Beethoven.
