With the two titles "Bayreuth Return" and "Wahnfried 1883", Klaus Schulze clearly dedicated his fifth album to Richard Wagner, his great musical role model. Released in August 1975, Timewind was awarded the Grand Prix Internationale du Disques by the French Charles Cros Academy in 1976. This award is similar to the German Record Prize and is usually reserved for classical works. However, award winners also include Pink Floyd, Soft Machine and Jimi Hendrix. Many Klaus Schulze fans see "Timewind" as a milestone in electronic music and the birth of "classic Schulze", because the use of a sequencer, which dominated for the first time, marked a farewell to earlier Krautrock releases and a turn towards what is now called the Berlin School. Long, epic and predominantly minimalist soundscapes are characteristic of these. The re-release of "Timewind" comes with a bonus CD with a running time of 56 minutes and extensive liner notes.
Total times: 59:10 (CD1) & 56:14 (CD2). "Timewind" and two bonus tracks were recorded in Berlin from March to June 1975. The bonus track "Windy Times" was recorded in Hambühren in the year 2000 Original release (without the bonus tracks): August 1975. Tracks 1 and 2 of CD 1 are published in D/A/CH by Schacht Musikverlage. The three bonus titles on CD 2 are published worldwide by P.O.E.M. Musikverlag. The long Bayreuth Return was recorded at Klaus' home in two hours, exactly on the 3rd of June 1975 between 10 p.m. and midnight, as he carefully noticed on the tape box (still existing). The other and not much shorter track Wahnfried 1883 was also recorded at his home studio, as well as the first two bonus tracks who were unreleased until now. The third and short bonus track Klaus recorded twentyfive years after that, in memory of Timewind and as a little homage to his own classic.
