Massimo Pupillo

Massimo Pupillo is an Italian bass player, composer and improviser from Rome. He is a founding member of Zu, the Rome instrumental trio of baritone saxophone, bass and drums that started in the late 1990s and whose sound owes a lot to punk rock. Outside the band he works across experimental music, theatre and dance, and in 2023 he released the solo ambient album Our Forgotten Ancestors on Glacial Movements. Massimo Pupillo plays bass in Zu alongside Luca T. Mai on baritone saxophone.
