Genre: Experimental

Out of stock

Rare original edition on the tiny Italian label Fore of one of the MEV member's 1970's (this from 1977) solo masterpieces for voice, synthesizer, instrument and tape, which include some of the most personal and beautiful experimental music ever made, released in 1982.

condition (record/cover): NM / EX- (light wear)

With original innersleeve.

The fourth and most explicitly vocal of Curran's solo records. Part 1 was recorded February-March 1982 on via dell'Orso 28 in Rome, the loft-studio Curran occupied since 1965; Part 2 in the same window at Mammuth Studios. Curran reversed the running order for the later CD reissue; the original Fore LP preserves the first conception.

Forty-five minutes of extended vocal lines: Curran half-sings, half-davens through long modal melismas that draw on Jewish liturgical chant, Italian folk vocal practice and the sustained-tone discipline La Monte Young and Pandit Pran Nath had been developing on another continent. Underneath: synthesizer drones, found sound at low volume. No spoken text. Fore pressed perhaps a few hundred copies. The 2010 New World Solo Works: The '70s triple-CD restored the work to wider circulation.
