The Charlie Parker discography is one of the most tangled in recorded music, largely because he was taped constantly by fans, club owners and radio engineers, and because the material has been reissued for seventy years by labels with varying degrees of legitimacy. Celestial Bird Vol. Two belongs to that world: live and broadcast recordings gathered up and issued in France, sound quality entirely dependent on whoever was holding the microphone, and playing that survives all of it. For anyone who has already worn out the Savoy and Dial sides, this is where the real digging starts.
