Compressed Happiness is a split collaboration between Eiko Ishibashi and K2, released in 2014 by Phage Tapes, the non-profit noise label run by Sam Stoxen in Minneapolis. Each side is one long piece of about twenty minutes, composed by one artist with sounds supplied by the other.
Ishibashi, the Japanese composer, pianist and improvising drummer born in Chiba in 1974, later known for her score to Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Drive My Car, opens with Cold Pastoral, a synthesizer piece recorded at Atelier Eiko in 2013. K2, the noise project of Kimihide Kusafuka, active since the early 1980s, answers with the 22-minute Sweet Paranoia's Heaven Version 3, recorded at Oncosonik Laboratory in 2013 with piano, electric violin, synthesizer and electronics. K2 also compiled and mastered the disc.
