Two pieces for solo trombone plus one for 2 clarinets, with unconventional and extended instrumental techniques and sounding quite amazing, composed in 1973 and 1974 and featuring Michel Portal, released in 1978.

condition (record/cover): NM / EX - Echanges / Res/As/Ex/Ins-Pirer / Discours IV on Deutsche Harmonia Mundi continues Vinko Globokar's exploration. The central title decomposes the word "respirer" (to breathe) into its components, prefixes indicating different directions of breath: out, in, through. Globokar thinks sound as metabolism, gaseous exchange between body and environment.

The "Discours" form a series that Globokar developed over years, solo pieces where the instrumentalist speaks, literally and figuratively. Musical discourse becomes discourse proper: oration, harangue, confession. Technical virtuosity serves a communicative urgency that has nothing exhibitionistic about it. The German label's involvement signals international recognition for music that defied easy national categorization.
