Dün was a French group from the Nantes area, active between 1978 and 1981. Guitarist Jean Geeraerts and flautist Pascal Vandenbulcke shared a fascination with Frank Herbert's novel Dune, and the band's name and the titles of its only album came from it. Eros was recorded in 1981 at Studio Sunrise in Kirchberg, Switzerland, with Etienne Conod engineering, and was released by the band itself in a small pressing sold mostly at concerts.
The line-up had Bruno Sabathé on piano and synthesizers, Alain Termolle on vibraphone, xylophone and percussion, Thierry Tranchant on bass and Laurent Bertaud on drums. The music is entirely instrumental: four long pieces built on intricate written passages, flute and vibraphone doubling the themes, and a rhythm section that recalls Magma's propulsion. It is often filed under Zeuhl, though the jazz-rock and chamber elements are just as strong.
The five bonus tracks are alternate versions of Arrakis, Bitonio and Eros, plus Acoustic Fremen.
