* 2024 stock * The Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno (also called RRR) were a Roman group dedicated to progressive rock in the years in which the genre, in Italy and in Europe, lived its best years with enthusiasm. Formed by Luciano Regoli (vocals, acoustic guitar), Francesco Froggio Francica (drums, percussion), Manlio Zacchia (bass), Damaso Grassi (flute, sax), Nanni Civitenga (guitar) and Stefano Piermarioli (keyboards) they released only one album in 1972 - "Per un mondo di Cristallo" - and then quickly dissolved due to various disagreements between the musicians. Despite the brevity of their experience, today their only LP remains an absolutely peculiar album of a musical season full of innovation and complexity that went far beyond the previous experiences of the Italian beat.
Per un mondo di Cristallo is the best Italian example of a sci-fi themed prog concept album. The lyrics are written by the poet Maria Comin and it is she herself who summarizes the story told on the disc: "A man goes on an expedition into space, returns to Earth, but the planet he knew no longer exists, there is only the ' Nothing around him, he is alone in a world that is no longer a world. He climbs 'On a cliff', the only one left and looking at all the ruins, he tries to understand why man destroyed himself, he sees himself again as a child when he was playing 'In his neighborhood' Suddenly a flash in the sky, the only thing that still reminds him of life, but he sees that from the sky 'The world is falling' on him and he can't react, he looks at the sun from the horizon it advances menacingly towards him like 'A shadow' but this world that was 'A stage of puppets' leaves nothing left in his mind but 'Crystal Dreams' which shatter in 'Nothing'". - Ondarock
