Meccanizzazione first came out on Leo Records (LR 15), one of the library imprints of Edizioni Leonardi, and it is one of the most striking records by Oronzo De Filippi, a composer known for his library work and for taking part, with Alessandro Alessandroni, in the project The Braen's Machine.
As the title says, it is an album about industry: ten instrumentals named after industrial architecture, factories, refineries, metallurgy, industrial chemistry and the mechanisation of farming, and almost all of it is dominated by the sound of the harpsichord. The pieces fall into two families. On one side are the friendlier, easy-listening ones, with a jazz-lounge and bossa nova flavour; on the other the darker, hypnotic ones, built on repetition like machines at work. Two themes, Fabbrica and Dinamica, appear in two different versions.
Reissued by Vinyl Magic with an obi and liner notes by Jonny Trunk. Black vinyl.
