2025 stock. Three rather meditative pieces from the repertoire of Ars Acustica, the series of radio art edited by Klaus Schöning, but nevertheless: Fluxus! Philip Corner, Alison Knowles and George Brecht appeared together in performances, and they are also connected by their relationship to John Cage's aesthetic, by work with chance operations, and by Zen. Explaining Fluxus is like wanting to hold a river in your hand.
Corner's Satie's Rose Cross as a Revelation takes its cue from Erik Satie's music for the Rosicrucian circle. Knowles's Bean Sequences grows out of one of her favourite materials, the sound of beans, and has Hannah Higgins and Jessica Higgins among the voices. Brecht's piece is a reading of the Hsin Hsin Ming of Seng Ts'an, the classic Chan poem on "faith in mind", with Robert Filliou, Albrecht Fabri and Chang Chung-Jen.
Three radio works made for listening rather than for the concert hall, slow and spacious. Total time 76'15".
