Original German edition on ECM of the 1984 album featuring Julian Priester and Kenny Wheeler.

condition (record/cover): EX+ / VG+ (edges wear and cut-out)

October 1983, and Dave Holland assembles the quintet that would define his work for the next decade. No piano, two horns plus trombone, and a rhythmic conception drawn as much from West African music as from bop. Kenny Wheeler supplies that unmistakable bruised trumpet lyricism, Julian Priester anchors the middle, and a young Steve Coleman plays alto with the angular, mathematically restless approach that would shortly turn into M-Base and change a generation. Holland's own writing is the frame for all of it: interlocking lines, shifting meters, and a groove that never lets go.

Original ECM pressing, Germany. The start of one of the great working bands of the eighties.
