Music from the Fools Trilogy of Nya Kulturkvartetten (Jan Bark, Fuzzy, Thord Norman, Folke Rabe), the Swedish inter-media group of 1983-1997: specially built instruments, live playing and pre-recorded electronic sounds.

The New Culture Quartet existed between the years 1983-1997 as an inter-media group consisting of Jan Bark, Fuzzy (Jens Wilhelm Pedersen), Thord Norman and Folke Rabe.

The Quartet performed their music live on ordinary as well as specially designed instruments, and with pre-recorded electronic music. In addition, there were films, multi slide presentations, light-and-shadow play, scenography and acting.

Ship of Fools was the Quartet’s first production, which, after a couple of public dress rehearsals in Stockholm, moved on to the Zagreb Biennale and Austria in 1983. The production was performed 56 times in various countries. The Swedish Television, Channel 1 did a TV version that was broadcast for the first time in 1986. The production eventually evolved into a Fools Trilogy. A selection of the music from the Trilogy is presented on this CD.
