Sonanza was founded in 1982 by eminent instrumentalists of the younger generation, all of them keenly interested in contemporary music. The group became permanent after its initial great success with Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire.
In its unceasing quest for new forms of presentation of contemporary music, the group actively collaborates with artists in other fields, such as pictorial art, dance, film and theatre.
On this CD Sonanza performs Divertimento by Anders Nilsson, Eleven Echoes of Autumn by George Crumb, Fogliame by Anders Eliasson and Ett porträtt (A portrait) by Daniel Börtz.
The musicians are: Peter Rydström, flute, Mats Wallin, Clarinet, Ann-Sofi Klingberg, piano, Fredrik Björlin, percussion, Åsa Hallerbäck-Thedéen, violin, Elsbeth Berg, viola and Torbjörn Nilsson, cello. The group is conducted by Jan Risberg.
